Jeddah. Popular aviation vlogger Josh Cahill flew on Saudia’s new Airbus A321XLR and shared his experience aboard the national carrier of Saudi Arabia. “This seat is changing aviation forever,” Cahill says in the video published on his YouTube channel, which has nearly 900,000 subscribers, with his videos regularly generating hundreds of thousands of views.
During the flight, Cahill also spoke with Rossen Dimitrov, who is responsible for guest experience at Saudia and is one of the key figures behind the airline’s transformation.
The main focus of the video is Saudia’s new Airbus A321XLR, which, according to Cahill, offers a glimpse into what the future of international travel could look like.
The aircraft combines the operating efficiency of a narrow body aircraft with the ability to fly significant distances and a premium product traditionally associated with wide body aircraft. The Airbus A321XLR was designed for such routes, allowing airlines to operate longer distance services with a more compact aircraft.
In Saudia’s configuration, the aircraft features 120 Economy Class seats, each equipped with an individual in flight entertainment system, 22 fully lie flat Business Class seats and two special seats in the first row.
It is the first row that particularly captures Josh Cahill’s attention.
The two seats are part of Business Class but offer significantly more space and privacy. Cahill describes them as private suites that provide an experience comparable to First Class, even though they are officially sold as Business Class seats.
According to him, the space is large enough for a passenger to dine together with a second person.
“This is a truly game changing experience,” is the aviation creator’s initial assessment.
Cahill also highlights the broader significance of the Airbus A321XLR for the aviation industry. According to him, narrow body aircraft will play an increasingly important role in international aviation due to their lower operating costs, reduced crew requirements and ability to serve routes that have traditionally been operated by larger aircraft.
Saudia’s new aircraft is already operating international flights, including services to Vienna, while the airline expects additional aircraft of this type to join its fleet.
However, Josh Cahill’s video goes beyond the presentation of the new aircraft.
One of the most interesting moments is his conversation with Rossen Dimitrov, who is responsible for guest experience at Saudia and is one of the key figures in the transformation of the airline’s passenger experience.
Dimitrov has extensive experience in the international aviation industry, including with Qatar Airways, where he played an important role in developing guest experience standards and concepts that contributed to establishing the airline as one of the global leaders in the sector.
He is now among the people behind Saudia’s ambition to follow a similar path and become a world class airline.
Speaking to Josh Cahill, Dimitrov explains the philosophy behind Saudia’s new vision and the way Saudi Arabia itself is changing.
“We want to deliver the new Saudi experience,” he explains.
Dimitrov points out that the transformation of the country should also be reflected in the passenger experience. This is why every detail of the new aircraft’s interior has been selected according to a specific concept, from the colors and materials to the shapes and decorative elements.
The design incorporates motifs inspired by the desert dunes, the sea, the mountains and the natural landscape of Saudi Arabia. The materials and colors form part of Saudia’s effort to create a distinctive identity that sets the airline apart on the international market.
From a traditional carrier to a global aviation brand
During the conversation, Josh Cahill also reflects on Saudia’s development over the past several years.
He recalls that the airline was once largely perceived as a traditional state carrier whose primary purpose was simply to transport passengers from one point to another.
Today, the picture is different.
New aircraft, a new cabin interior, investment in guest experience, modern services and a clear international strategy are all part of the major transformation through which Saudia is seeking to establish itself among the world’s leading airlines.
This transformation is at the heart of the conversation between Josh Cahill and Rossen Dimitrov.
For Dimitrov, the transformation is not simply about introducing new aircraft. It requires a change in every element of the journey, from design and service to the way passengers experience and discover the country from the moment they step on board.
The new Airbus A321XLR is one of the most visible symbols of this transformation.
For Josh Cahill, the Saudia flight offers an opportunity to see up close not only one of the newest aircraft in aviation, but also the way an airline is changing its entire philosophy and approach to its passengers.
The video, “This seat is changing aviation forever,” is part of Josh Cahill’s series of aviation experiences. In recent years, he has established himself as one of the most recognizable independent aviation creators on YouTube.
At the end of the flight, he highlights a trend that he believes will become increasingly important for the industry. The future of aviation will not be determined solely by the size of an aircraft, but also by the way airlines use new technologies, design and the human factor to transform the passenger experience.
